Automate media content scheduling

The needs

Media programming teams manage complex broadcast schedules every day, where the slightest error can lead to programme interruptions or scheduling conflicts. The goal of αPlanner was to deliver a high-performance application capable of simplifying this work while reducing repetitive tasks and the risk of error.

The platform needed to automatically generate EPGs (Electronic Program Guides), create programme loops from predefined templates, and provide a clear overview of the entire schedule. A reliable validation system was also essential to detect gaps or overlaps before broadcast.

Our approach

We developed αPlanner as a modern business application designed to meet the performance and reliability requirements of the media industry.

The application is built on Laravel for data management and business logic, React for a smooth and responsive interface, and Rust for processing that demands high performance — particularly when generating and validating schedules.

At the heart of the solution, a scheduling engine automates EPG creation and grid generation from reusable templates. A validation system analyses the entire event hierarchy to instantly identify empty slots, overlaps, or inconsistencies before publication.

The result is an application that significantly reduces time spent on scheduling, secures broadcast processes, and gives teams an intuitive working environment designed to efficiently manage complex programming at scale.
